According to these measures, heat generation is avoided by the drive in the underfloor chamber itself, because the lighter warmer air rises and thus collects as an air layer in the above-floor housing. At the same time, a separate overhead casing enables larger and more powerful drives, which could not be accommodated in the cramped space of the underfloor compartment. However, after penetration of the wall of the underfloor chamber with the drive means required for the lifting device breaks through its airtight seal required for hygienic storage, according to the invention the overfloor housing is airtightly connected to the underfloor chamber. A liquid seal can advantageously be achieved by virtue of the fact that the liquid seal has a liquid-filled channel enclosing the feed opening and sealed relative to the underfloor chamber. Depending on the design of the above-floor housing, it may be sufficient that the edge region of the above-floor housing, which is not materially connected to the underfloor chamber, engages in a common, liquid-filled channel together with the edge region of the cover. Of course, this channel must be sealed off from the underfloor chamber, so that between the underfloor chamber and the channel a sealing tape or similar sealing devices known to those skilled in the art can be provided. Especially in the field of temporary storage of animal carcasses, it is essential for safety reasons, to allow opening of the lower chamber only authorized persons. It is therefore proposed that the cover comprises a releasable in response to the actuation of the drive of the lifting device Verrieglungseinrichtung.
